(1.8 m) of thread,pick up a tile bead. Sewthrough both holes, exiting theadjacent hole(figure 1)andleaving a 6-in. (15 cm) tail.editor’s tipWork the strand flat onyour work surface with thetiles lined up as shown infigure 2.2Pick up an 11seed bead,a color B lentil bead, an 11,and a tile(figure 2, a–b).Slide to the previous tile butleave one tile’s width betweentiles. Keep the tension loose.Sew through the secondhole of the tile just added(b–c).Repeat this stitch(c–d)for a total of 26 tiles.The 11s and lentils shouldbe loose. There should bea tile at each end, and thebeadwork should be about12 in. (30 cm) long, whichwill create a bangle with a21⁄4-in. (5.7 cm) inner diame-ter. To adjust the finished size,work more or fewer repeats.Each tile will add5⁄16in.(8 mm) to the finished piece.3To add 11s and lentils tothe other side of the strand:Sew through the other holeof the last tile. Repeat step 2(figure 3),keeping thethread tension equal tothe first side(photo a).4Align the ends, makingsure the beadwork is nottwisted. Pick up an 11, aB lentil, and an 11. Sewthrough the end hole of thelast tile at the other end ofthe strand. Pick up an 11,a B lentil, and an 11. Tiethe working thread and tailtogether with a square knot,and sew through the otherend tile(figure 4).Gentlystretch the bangle to evenout the tension, making surethe lentils move freely.
